I recently applied for a job. Went to several interviews was fingerprinted, and background checked, as well as employment verification checked. I requested a copy of the results and my dates were wrong from what I thought compared to what my old employer had. I wrote that I was hired in March 2008. They said it was April 2008. I went through my old planner because I save them and noticed that I applied in February then two weeks later in March I was offered the job. I accepted but training did not start until April 2nd. Then, My last day of work was January 31. So I wrote I worked until February 2009. But the system tat verifies makes everything on the 1st of the month so they say that i started April 1st and ended January 1st. I’m confused as to why they do that. I’m extremely scared this will ruin my chance for getting this job. Should I call them? Or wait for them to contact me? Has anyone been in this situation? I don’t know what to do because i want this job very bad. Thanks!
For employment application purposes, when a background check will be conducted, should I check yes for conviction? I was told that it wasn’t a conviction. It was a misdemeanor p.t. charge. I paid a court fee and that was it and it was 7 years ago. Really confused. Please help
my boyfriend is looking for a job desperately. He has applied to many places like mcdonalds , burger king , clothing stores , you name it , and they all deny him employment because of his background check. he is 28 yrs old now and while being young he made many mistakes while being in the streets in ny . nothing like robbery or anything or murders but he has like 4 felonies for selling drugs and stuff like that the point is that he has paid his time for his crimes many yrs ago and has not had been in trouble for many yrs. But he keeps getting no when looking for a job. He is trying his best to do things the right way but he is always getting shut down , i feel really bad for him because i see him starting to get discouraged , he had a job for a tour bus company called city sights in ny ( u know those buses that run around the city giving tours , but the thing is that they paid based on comission and its only like 2 dollars comission for each ticket they sell and 20 bucks for the day , plus they laid him off once the winter came. . so imagine we are having a very hard time making ends meet , i work too , but its just not enough to pay our bills , i really want to help him . But what kind of job can he get . please no rude remarks , we are talking about a guy who has learned from his mistakes that he has made in his past , he is still young and wants the opportunity to do things right
So I met with HR today for the company that I’ve applied for. Went on several interviews, and they finally decide to extend an offer to me.
They didn’t really give me much time to sit on it and think about it. I was suppose to accept the position at that very point of day. At the moment, it sounded like a good job but when I factor in the commute (SJ to San Francisco), and salary, it’s not worth it.
Employment is contingent on background check and drug test (within 48 hours).
I’m reconsider and do not want this job. What should I do?
AND I know there is a pre employment test perhaps like a psych-test,drug test, and background check….Any tips regarding test, question for employment, clothing, interview, any yes or must-dos?Yes I know …im talking about Home Depot=0)
thx in advance
I am currently on probation for ABI on a family member. This is the first time I’ve ever been convicted of anything but I’m having a hard time getting a good job once my background check is done. I’m currently employed, so I’m able to survive. Has anyone ever been convicted and been denied employment b/c of that? Did you eventually find a DECENT paying job?
I work in a national security sensitive industry that needs to know my activities between jobs. I worked a couple of temp jobs in between assignments, and when my new assignment came up the investigaters contacted those employers and one didn’t bother, and the other refused to respond with my employment info since my last assignment. Shouldn’t they be legally required to provide that info? I signed the proper forms allowing the investigation.
